Melvin Pagán-González, Psy.D.
Dr. Pagán’s primary specialty is forensic and psychological assessment. He has conducted forensic evaluations at the state (Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina) and federal level. His specialties are competency to stand trial, competency restoration, criminal responsibility, psychosexual evaluations, violence risk assessment, malingering, pre-sentencing evaluations, and mitigation.

Dr. Pagán completed a post-doctoral residency at Emory University’s School of Medicine, where he specialized in forensic psychology. As part of the Psychiatry and Law Service, he provided forensic assessment, competency restoration services, and consultation services.
Dr. Pagán earned a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Indiana State University. He completed his internship with the Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, NC. He has experience providing therapy and psychological assessment for diverse clinical populations in correctional and community settings. He has presented at national conferences on topics related to forensic assessment and culture-responsive assessment. Before pursuing a career as a clinical psychologist, he was a social worker specializing in mitigation and competency restoration. Dr. Pagán has over 10 years of experience working with individuals dealing with severe mental illness, traumas, intellectual disabilities, and cognitive impairments. He provides services in English and Spanish and has developed and translated educational materials for competency restoration programs in both languages. He has provided trainings on suicide prevention, forensic assessment, diversity and inclusion, and competency restoration.
